The Perfect Attack: Can Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane tear Chelsea into shreds in London derby?

When a football journalist asked Jose Mourinho about his thoughts on transforming Tottenham Hotspur into a winning team, he replied saying “I’ve won everywhere I’ve been to, I’ll win at Tottenham too.” At the moment, it seems the ‘special one’ is a man of his words. He has successfully utilized the wealth of experience at his disposal to bring in the right winning mentality into the spurs side. In doing that, he has brilliantly unleashed the potentials in Harry Kane and Son Heung-Min, transforming the pair into a perfect attacking force.

The England forward Harry Kane and South Korean skipper Son Heung-Min have been in absolutely sensational form this season. The attacking pair have been massively prolific — notching a combined 16 goals at the start of a new campaign, more than any attacking pair in the ongoing premier league season. As if that is not enough, the versatility of the 27- year old Harry Kane has been unmatched. Not only has he shown his prowess at the front of goal but also, he has metamorphorsed into a playmaker — bagging 9 assists in 9 games to stay at the summit of assist ranking in Europe.

But Son Heung-Min and Harry Kane’s spurs will visit their in-form London rival Chelsea at the bridge in a derby clash on Sunday. Although Chelsea have witnessed a shaky start to the season, they have remedied the status quo. The shambolic defending associated with the team has disappeared for now, giving way to a greater structure, leaving the stage clear for the wonderfully endowed team to showcase a masterclass of football play. No surprise that they are on a 10-matches unbeaten run in all competitions with 6 clean sheets to show off. On top of that, the blues have maintained an impressive goalscoring form this season, scoring the highest number of goals in the league (22) alongside Liverpool.

However, the well balanced and possession-inclined team that Chelsea have transformed into suggests that they are unlikely to be susceptible to errors and as such, it will be no work in the park for spurs fearless attacking duo to break into spaces and pierce their solid defense.
