Sanctuary Strikers FC sink Lightmoon FC after John Kehinde fired in a brilliant injury-time winner.

John Kehinde fired in a stoppage-time winner to crown a spectacular victory by Sanctuary Strikers FC and inflict a punishing defeat on a Lightmoon FC side aiming for parity.
Caginess characterized a low-tempo first half in which play from either side rarely surpassed the prosaic. Only John Kehinde who led the Sanctuary Strikers FC’s attack sparkled for the Red-coloured team, regularly threatening Lightmoon FC’s defense with his strength, pace and agility. His disturbance upfront then paid-off in the 15th minute when Adedotun Feranmi released John Kehinde from the center half with a quality pass, the unmarked Striker lacking enough control on the ball, the ball slipped to the path of Mubarak Ogunleye — the makeshift striker did no mess of the ball, putting it into the back of the net from close range to open the score sheet.

The coach of Lightmoon FC, coach Olamilekan furious at the early goal his team conceded, geared his players from the touchline to make a quick response. In no time, Lightmoon FC equalised. The creativity of Adeosun Gbolahan was made manifest when he played in a sublime cross into the danger area, only for the midfielder, Gbenro Sojo to slot home a powerful header.

The game then turned into a tit for tat contest with both teams following the sequence laid early on. Sanctuary Strikers FC opened the score sheet then Lightmoon FC drew level minutes later. That was the order of things when Sanctuary Strikers FC went forward for the second time in the contest. Thanks to the captain Ezekiel Kelechi’s exquisite free kick from the left edge of the penalty box.

Soon after, Lightmoon FC seemed to have discovered the flaw of their opponent through the strength of their captain Lawal Ayomide. Sanctuary Strikers FC lacking concentration after taking the lead committed series of fouls on the Lightmoon FC players, thus, cheaply gifting away unecessary set pieces to the Lightmoon FC side. At the time when Sanctuary Strikers FC looked to make amend for their errors, it was belated as Lightmoon FC had capitalised on the errors committed to restore parity once again. Though Sanctuary Strikers FC gifted away series of fouls, but it took the individual brilliance of Adeosun Gbolahan to draw them level. Collecting the ball at the right hand side of the midfield, the playmaker, as artful as he is fiery, fooled Adedotun Feranmi with a neat twist and then tricked Alade Lekan with a feint before Abdulsalam Kehinde halted him in the process. Yusuf Muiz of Lightmoon FC standing over the resultant free kick, calmly guided his long range effort into the top left corner of the goal post. Sanctuary Strikers FC were stunned!.

Rather for the equaliser to weaken them, they scented blood. Knowing that a point may not be enough to see them through to the final, they were bent on clinching the maximum point. In the nick of time, the winning goal came knocking. Deep into the last minute of stoppage time, Sanctuary Strikers FC launched an attack at Lightmoon FC. Lightmoon FC unable to withstand the pressure mounted on them, they fell short to what Sanctuary Strikers FC had in stock, and paved way for Adedotun Feranmi and John Kehinde to perform the last-minute magic. Adedotun Feranmi the recipient of a long pass from Ezekiel Kelechi displayed his passing finesse as his no-look pass released John Kehinde on a one-on-one situation with Lightmoon FC’s goalkeeper Adeniyi Matthew. Calming his nerves, the striker chipped the ball over the advancing goalkeeper to seal the deal in the contest and secure a place for his team in the final.
