Arteta’s Gunners: Rejuvenated Or Fluke?

Four goals were all Arsenal needed away at the Hawthorns as the resurgent Gunners blew away relegation-threatened Westbrom alongside their manager Sam Allardyce who is respected for being a master planner when it comes to beating the drop.

A stunning drive capped off with an exquisite right-footed finish from Kieran Tierney opened the goals account for the Gunners, soon they got another from Bukayo Saka and Alexandre Lacazette would later grab a brace as the North-Londoners romped to a 3rd straight win.

Having enjoyed a stellar start to life on the Capital, Arteta had lit joy in the faces of the Emirate faithfuls, lifting the FA Cup at the expense of rivals Chelsea and breezing past league winners Liverpool to lift the Community Shield. Things have since then gone south for the Spaniard as a poor run of form across October, November till mid-December would find the Gunners in a relegation battle. However, a Chelsea visit to Emirates changed their fortunes and Arteta who had the media and fans calling for his head on a plate became the man of the moment. The 13-time champions have since then srtacked up wins against Brighton and Westbrom. They now sit 11th on the log 3 points behind Chelsea who have been abysmal since their 3-1 loss to Arsenal as a draw against Villa and a loss to City left them for 9th place.

Evidently certain changes had come to play for the Gunners one which was the introduction of youth prodigy Emil Smith Rowe into the mix. The youngster has since went on to provide an assist in each of the last three games. Creativity issues had been solved!.

Having just reached halfway of the long season, the finish line is still far away which raises the issue of Arsenal’s new face of attack standing a test of time. Youngsters in the team are short term fixes and should’nt be viewed as the ones to take them to the promised land.

To ensure their good run continues, Arteta needs to fully solve creativity issues as he poses a side who are solid at the back and have good holding midfielders.

With the return of German playmaker Mesut Ozil off the cards at the moment, the Spaniard needs to make use of the winter transfer window already open to secure the signature of a chance creator. The Gunners have been linked with Norwich midfielder Emiliano Buendia who creates chances for a living, fingers are crossed as we wait to see of the Argentine playmaker will be donning the Red and White colours soon.

The race to Europe is very much alive, only the fittest can contend for tickets. This is a reality Arteta’s Gunners need to realize whether rejuvenating or not or they may find themselves having no ticket to next season’s European Competitions.
