Ole Gunnar Solksjear and Paul Pogba are in confident mood ahead of blockbuster clash against Liverpool

Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solksjear and “in-form” midfielder Paul Pogba are in a confident mood going into a decisive league clash against Defending Champion Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.

The Red Devils sit at the summit of the standings in a new year for the first time since they last won the title in 2013 with a 3-point margin over second place Liverpool following a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Burnley in midweek at Turf Moor.

The 20-time champions have been imperial away from home this season winning all games except at Leicester City who held them to a 2-2 draw, thanks to a late Jamie Vardy equaliser that salvaged a point for the Foxes and the former Molde boss is confident of extending that impressive form when they travel to face North-West rivals Liverpool.
“We feel very confident going into games. Away from home we have really done well. We have to believe in ourselves and we do. We’ve done a great job, it’s good times. It’s a test against the champions who have been fantastic, that’s a great test for us,” Solksjaer said.

Paul Pogba — who claimed the man of the match award at Turf Moor following his standout performance against Burnley — also expressed his optimism in the fixture against Liverpool in these words:
“It will be a beautiful game for everyone. We knew if we won, we would be top of the league when we play Liverpool.”
“We have to keep calm, now it is the big moment. We will see what is going to happen.”

With all odds against Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool following their inability to secure a win in their last 3 league outings coupled with the fact that United are on an 11 matches unbeaten run in the league, the visiting side seem to be the side with momentum and the winning mentality to put the game to bed at Anfield.
