Bellerin could leave Arsenal at the end of the season

Arsenal right back, Hector Bellerin has been touted to be on his way out of the club come the summer transfer window. Bellerin, who joined the club in 2011 and walked his way up to the team as first choice Right Back has been the subject of transfer discussions since 2016. Most recently, he was rumoured to be the subject of a 30 million Euro bid from Paris Saint Germain last summer. He however could not make the move as he even took a 7.5% pay cut to stay at Arsenal for one more year following a discussion with Arteta who he had a solid relationship with when he was a player.

“I’m really, really happy and this club is my home right now,” Bellerin told Arsenal Player. “I’ve been here for more than five years now so I was really, really excited when the club told me that they wanted to extend my contract. These were the exact words of Hector Bellerin when he signed a new contract in 2016. One is left wondering what has changed in 5 years but Bellerin suddenly does not feel like he has a home at Arsenal any longer. He once revealed that he was a victim of abuse from fans as some described him as “a lesbian” following a series of bad performances.

Bellerin has also been injury plagued at Arsenal as he has a long hospital history and The arrival of Cedric Soares has also made him unsettled. Sources have confirmed there are no open conversations between Bellerin and the club regarding his future, but there is a sense from both sides that with two years left on his contract, this summer represents the right time to move on after a decade at the Emirates.

Bellerin has always attracted suitors as he was linked to Manchester United for a long time until the got Wan-Bissaka and even PSG last summer and he has been linked to boyhood club Barcelona who have been short of a class Right back since the departure of legendary Dani Alves in 2016. Sergi Roberto, Serigino Dest, Nelson Semedo and a few others have struggled to fill the void created by Alves and Barcelona have been linked with Bellerin as a replacement.
