Barcelona Set to Scoop Depay For Free

Memphis Depay is still a top summer target for Barcelona, says RMC Sport.

The Spanish side have been heavily linked with the Lyon star over the last year and still hope to land him for free when his contract expires at the end of the current campaign.

The Lyon forward might be in the market for free this summer thanks to his expiring contract, according to a report. He isn’t responding to any of their offers for an extension and believes he deserves to play for a bigger club. His Former club Manchester United has a buy back clause in his contract which they are unwilling to activate.

The Netherland international joined the English side Manchester United in June 2015 for a reported fee of £25 million. After a disappointing spell there, he joined the French club Lyon in January 2017 where he went on to have a stellar football carrer with 61 goals and 52 assists in 135 appearances and that has gotten him on the wish list of the biggests teams in World.

The 27 year old Dutch has expressed his love for the Spanish giants as he had stated previously
“Who wouldn’t like to play there? They are one of the best teams in the world. Everyone would like to play there, but I’m not thinking about that.”

The Blaugrana would have to further trim their squad to fund new signings of the striker with the likes of Ousman Dembele set to quit the club in the summer and the club having lost their extremely prolific No 9 Lius Suarez last summer.
