Hopes of Grealish move to City could be dashed

Jack Grealish is reportedly reconsidering his much-touted million move to Manchester City.

The Aston Villa captain is a subject of transfer news everyday of the week and he is said to be greatly admired by City boss Pep Guardiola, who has reportedly tol the City hierarchy to go all out for him.

However, according to Talksport, a source close to the 25-year-old said he was ‘contemplating’ the move.

In fact, there are even reports that Aston Villa are preparing a mouth watering contract to keep him at the Villa Park despite the fact that his current contract still has 4 years on it.

Grealish was arguably the most popular member of Gareth Southgate’s England squad for Euro 2020, despite not featuring much in the tournament.

He has been consistently linked with a move away from Villa Park over the past few years in search of silverware and European football, but has always chosen to stay with the club he adores. He was even heavily linkd to Manchester United two seasons ago but a VAR error that ended up keeping Villa in the Premier League saved Villa’s season and ended up giving Dean Smith a point in convinving Grealish to stay/

For their part, Villa have signalled their confidence that Grealish isn’t going anywhere by making him the face of the campaign to promote their new kit for next season.

As part of the promotion, Grealish spoke of his strong connection to the club, heightening rumours that he will stay.

‘Everyone knows what claret and blue means to me,’ he said.

‘I’ve been a Villa boy all my life, and I love playing for this club.’

Villa are reportedly looking to agree a one-year contract extension with Grealish that would take his salary above £150,000-a-week while City are looking to offload players like fellow Englishman Raheem Sterling and Algerian Riyad Mahrez to fund the transfer of Jack Grealish and Kane for whom a bid has been submitted.
