Barcelona Joan Gamper match against Juventus to be played at 20% Stadium Capacity

La Liga giants Barcelona’s annual Joan Gamper Trophy match against Serie A icons Juventus will take place on August 8 at the Camp Nou, and fans are expected to return.

The club has however confirmed that they will have a capacity of 20 percent for the match, which will begin at 21:30 CEST and will be broadcast worldwide.

Since Barcelona’s match against Real Sociedad on March 7, 2020, the Camp Nou has been closed to fans as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

It is possible that up to 19,869 supporters will be in attendance for the match in a few weeks.

It will begin with the Barcelona women’s team taking on Juventus’s women’s team at 18:00 CEST on the same day. Then it will be followed by the men’s teams taking on each other at 21:30 CEST.

Juventus has been invited to play in this match on a number of occasions, the first time being in 2005, which was 16 years ago this year. That day, a certain Lionel Messi made his entrance onto the scene with a sensational performance.

At the moment, it remains unknown whether Lionel Messi will be a participant in this year’s Joan Gamper game as he is yet to sign a new contract and is thus not a Barcelona player. If he does play, it could be yet the last game in which he and Cristiano Ronaldo would be on the same pitch.

The last meeting betwen both teams came up in the UEFA Champions League groupstage of last season and both teams qualified from the group.
