Xhaka move to Roma to be halted

Granit Xhaka’s transfer to Roma could be shelved if the Italian club and Arsenal are unable to reach an agreement on a transfer fee for the midfielder. Moving to the Stadio Olympico has been speculated about for several weeks, as the Swiss midfielder seeks a fresh challenge in his professional career.

Arsenal are seeking €20 million for Xhaka, but Roma have so far been unable to match that figure. Gunners manager  has refused to allow Xhaka to join the Serie A club despite his desire to do so.

TMW reports that ‘everything has come to a halt’ since Roma has not offered a price that is proportional to Arsenal’s appraisal.

Personal terms have apparently been agreed upon between Xhaka and Jose Mourinho’s team, but the cost is supposedly causing a snag in the process.

Admiration for the 28-year-old has already been shown by the Special One, who believes he is an important cog in the Emirates’ machinery.

“Granit Xhaka is the most important player in the entire Arsenal midfield, but you won’t notice it unless I lend you one of my eyes,” he explained.Arsenal is doomed if he doesn’t show up.

“He is regarded as a leader.Remember that humans are capable of making mistakes.”

Clearly, Mourinho has communicated to the leadership of Roma that the Swiss star is one of his major priorities. When asked about his future with the Gunners, Xhaka responded in a mysterious manner.

He explained to Look: “Arsenal are aware of what I intend to do…Here (in Rome), the scenery is breathtaking.” Xhaka is so desperate to complete a transfer to Roma that he is willing to forego his Arsenal bonuses in order to complete the transfer.

Mikel Arteta has already persuaded the midfielder to stay in the club once, but he now confronts a difficult assignment in convincing him to do so a second time. After a series of confrontations with Arsenal fans in 2019, Xhaka appeared destined for the exit door. However, Arsene Wenger made it clear that he placed a high value on the player.

The Swiss star has remained in north London, but it is possible that he will be part of a change at Emirates Stadium. The Gunners have agreed to a £50 million fee with Brighton for Ben White, bringing the deal for the centre-half one step closer.

A loan move for Tammy Abraham is also being considered by the Gunners, with an option to purchase in 12 months’ time being considered instead of an obligation to buy. Chelsea is looking about £40 million for the striker. Arsenal have signed Nuno Tavares and Albert Sambi Lokonga for a total of £23 million so far this summer.

William Saliba and Matteo Guendouzi were allowed to leave the club by the Gunners, although David Luiz’s contract was not renewed by the Premier League outfit. Emile Smith Rowe has given Arsenal a significant boost by agreeing to a new contract.
