Adedotun Feranmi, Saheed and were on target on Tuesday morning as Ibadan North Local Government beat Ibadan North East Local Government on Matchday 2 of the Oyo State Under-14 League Competition.
The game was kicked off by the Ibadan North youngsters who exuded a high level fitness and a mastery of combination play. Both sides started brightly enough but chances were largely scarce in the game. Ibadan North however had a golden chance early in the game when Striker Abdulmalik raced clean through on goal – only for the striker to shoot wide.
Ibadan North East soon had a chance to prove their mettle in the game when Abdulsalam Kehinde fouled his marker at the edge of the box. The freekick was however waywardly take and the Ibadan North goalkeeper had little to do as the ball went wide.
A huge chance fell on the hands, or as you would have it, legs of Saheed of the Ibadan North Local Government and he hit a firm strike which forced opponents back. He did walk back to his position as he cut a frustrating figure following the chances he had missed.
The Ibadan North East boys, unfazed by the 5-0 loss inflicted on them in their first game of the tournament began to grow into the game with steady and calm buildups, trying to create chances but the Ibadan North defence were up to all of their antics. Probably fed up of the overly patient buildup pattern, No 2 hit a shout from outside the box but the goalkeeper stood up to the task with a firm grip of the ball.
In the second half, the Striker of the North east, largely pocketed by the towering Center Back of the Ibadan North boys, weaseled past 3 Ibadan North boys and took a venomous low strike to the bottom right corner but the keeper was there to take it up as well.
But out of nowhere, Ibadan North boys got the lead when Adekunle won a Freekick at the edge of the box and midfield maestro Adedotun Feranmi kicked a freekick to the top right corner for the his first goal of the game and his second of the tournament.
The second came minutes later after the Ibadan North East defence failed to deal with a tricky low cross from John Kehinde who was subbed in later in the game, and Abdulmalik had the simple task of collecting the loose ball and rolling it in from close range.
Ibadan North fashioned a decent chance for an equaliser when a deep ball to the back post was flicked back across goal by the Centre Forward and no 7 goalbound shot hit the Ibadan North and trickled into the net
Ibadan North GoalKeeper soon made a sharp save to push away Number 7 shot, before the striker hit the post moments later before the full time.
The game ended 2-1 and Ibadan North have got 6 points in their last two games while the North east boys have o points and a -6 Goal Difference.
