OFFICIAL: Cristiano Ronaldo named September’s EPL Player of the Month

Cristiano Ronaldo has been crowned the Premier League’s September Player of the Month following a string of outstanding performances for Manchester United. On September 11, the Portuguese made his first start of the season against Newcastle, having returned to the club amid much fanfare and scoring twice.

His first goal was a tap-in, but his second demonstrated that the 36-year-old can still outrun defenders by sprinting into the area and slotting home.

Ronaldo then equalized for United after they fell behind to West Ham, reversing the game’s momentum before Jesse Lingard scored a late winner.

He was unable to prevent United from losing 1-0 against Aston Villa in September, but was deemed to have done enough to earn the accolade.

While his European achievements were not evaluated for the Premier League title, Ronaldo also scored in the 2-1 defeat at Young Boys before scoring a thrilling winner against Villarreal at home in the Champions League.

Cristiano Ronaldo has won the Premier League’s official player of the month award for the first time since March 2008, the biggest gap between wins in the competition’s history.

The only players to have won the accolade more times than Ronaldo are Sergio Aguero (7), Steven Gerrard (6), and Harry Kane (6).
