Tomori: Why I chose England over Nigeria

Fikayo Tomori, a Nigerian-born England international, has finally opened up about why he left Nigeria’s Super Eagles for England’s Three Lions, according to BSNsports.

There have been many debates among football fans in the country about why the AC Milan defender chose to represent England over his motherland.

Tomori told Oma Akatugba of Germany that it was a difficult decision but one that had to be made.

“It was challenging; clearly, it was something I had been considering for a year or two.
I represented England at the U20 European Championships, and I was thinking ahead.

There were numerous discussions and individuals posing queries about it.

It was simply a choice; England raised me up, though it was difficult to drop Nigeria,” he explained.

Tomori was recalled to the England national squad following an injury to Harry Maguire and Trent-Arnold, who would miss the World Cup qualifier against Hungary.

The Cobhams graduate now plies his trade in Milan after a successful loan spell from Chelsea.
