Arsenal close to completing a €70 million deal for Vlahovic.

Arsenal are close to completing the transfer of prolific Fiorentina attacker Dusan Vlahovic for €70 million (£58 million), according to Italian media sources.

Arsenal have been on the lookout for a new striker for weeks, with Alexandre Lacazette’s contract expiring and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s long-term future at the club in doubt due to his recent behavior.

Although a number of top clubs have shown an interest in Vlahovic, who is rated at €45 million by FootballTransfers, Arsenal are currently the obvious frontrunners for the Serbia international front, with a January transfer seeming increasingly likely.

According to La Repubblica, Fiorentina have grown more dissatisfied with Vlahovic over the course of this drama, both with his behavior and that of his entourage. This has expedited the transaction.

Arsenal overcomes obstacles to complete the Vlahovic acquisition
Although earlier rumors said they desired €100 million for a player, these considerations appear to have lowered their asking price to a more reasonable €70 million.

Meanwhile, there had been rumours of fresh snags in the discussions over the form of Arsenal’s payments to Fiorentina. The Italian side apparently desired payment in one lump amount immediately, whilst the Emirates side desired payment over a four-year period.

These difficulties, however, look to be on the verge of resolution, with Fiorentina fed up with their primary attacker’s behavior.

A pricey Gunner
This continues a pattern of significant squad investment over the last six months, with Arsenal one of the most expensive spenders in a summer transfer season that saw them secure the permanent signings of Ben White, Martin Odegaard, and Aaron Ramsdale.

When the transaction is completed, Vlahovic will become Arsenal’s second most expensive acquisition of all time, with Nicolas Pepe’s move from Lille in 2019 surpassing it.

He is a natural No.9 and will slide into the Gunners’ starting lineup.

Arsenal does not have a time constraint at this moment, with more than two weeks remaining in the transfer window to complete the transaction with Fiorentina and with Vlahovic himself.
